Yes, a Private SSL can be ordered for a subdomain too. For this purpose specify the subdomain in the "Domain Name" field when ordering the SSL.

If you are ordering a WildCard SSL all your subdomains will be covered by the SSL and you don't have to specify explicitly a subdomain.
